Vacuum Cleaner Ratings wanted PLEASE!

I have a Rainbow- HATE their marketing, love the vacuum. I don't know where apartment dwellers dump the water though-maybe they don't have as much dog hair in it

I still have my 28 old (omg could it be?) Kirby in the garage-it has a great carpet cleaning attachment I may want to use... someday.
The other one in storage is Amway-another bagless one-the canister dumps into the trash.
The rainbow is the best of these 3 for not getting dust in the air.

I had three kirby's throughout the years, loved them. Was like running a tank, but boy did they work. My aunt loved her Rainbow, but the color of that water just made me want to urp all over. My mom had an electrolux and she loved it. I finally got an Oreck, and just absolutely loved it and the little hand held so much, that when I killed it (any appliance I bring into my home will die from being used so mcuh) I bought another one, but am not as happy with this one. I have been debating about a Bissell when it goes, because my carpet shampooer is a Bissell and its just wonderful. I want to get rid of all the carpet anyway, after you see all the cat and dog hair on your wood floors, you KNOW what your carpet is embedded with . . .where I get the bags for my Oreck the guy told me that Simplicity is the best. The motor itself weighs 9#'s. They are a nice looking machine and run about the same as an Oreck. He said that Dyson and Oreck aren't what they are cracked up to be. . .and he sells them too, so he isn't partial.

The real cheap Panasonics are the best. As an operator of an industrial janitor company I have bought hundreds of them. We've since shut the company down. Iffin you lived in Houston(ish) I would tell you to just drop on by and you could have one out of my warehouse

I will have to get a Dyson then. I go through 2 or 3 vacuums a year. My husband said he has never seen anyone tear them up so fast

I recently bought a Kirby from my friend, but the belt broke. So have to find another one. It's pretty good, but it is really heavy.

I had a Eureka canister for years til it died.I could'nt find another one so I bought a Kenmore canister vac.It does work really good!

What about maintenance on the Dyson? Do you need to replace belts, etc? Is it bagless? I get a little creeped out by the bagless because I sweep up bugs and spiders too.

Dyson people, what is regular maintenance?
