Valentine's day hatch -a-long

Pics
Just got home from work - looked in the incubator - nothing, no zips, so I candled: One blood ring, two stopped progressing.
Got the coffee brewing & a chicken pot pie baking - I've got internal pips and they can't reach the shell-they've got big saddle shaped air cells. One is totally upside down, including the air cell? Air cell is on the bottom, the chick is upside down. :caf Looks like I'm assisting the hatch - I've got a long night ahead of me....
how did it go?

Looks like I'll be potentially getting more chicks, one of my hens is sleeping on a nest away from the coop. I believe she's an australorpe, she was supposed to be a jersey giant but she's not big enough.

I might also be getting a broody. My bantam orp (Cookie) is turning into a 'Cookie Monster'! Since my V-day eggs weren't fertile, I set some new ones last week. If the hen goes full broody, she'll get to mother all the incubator chicks.

I really take advantage of the fact that chickens can't count! LOL.
(This was Cookie last May. She adopted all 21 LF orp chicks.)

The upside down chick didn't make it. I got it out, but it just didn't breathe. Three silkie chicks also did not make it. Done with shipped eggs for a while. :hitI am so upset....

My own giant brahma chick hatched out properly all by itself. I have two shipped eggs that were on the cooler side of the incubator progressing slower - still in. TSC won't have any chicks til next week.
I'll give them a few more days.

Got some friends for my lonely chick! A neighboring farm had a few leftovers, got a few 4 month old Jersey Giants, too! Lucky for me, their hatch rates were far above normal!
