Very very graphic. Dealing with a dead animal in our shed.

Cat is taking care of.
I called my brother last night (he works nightshift) and when he came home this morning,We rubbed the Vick's sab under our nose and got it out with a shovel. Then burned it .I still couldn't eat breakfast tho

"The story" I guess lol....
Mom had told me that something smelt dead for acouple of days and I couldn't find the smell. Finally my dog found the area. I had a really cheap flashlight ,so the light was dim.Once I discovered the cat I Seriously thought it was my Silkie hen !...But I couldn't see it very well.I came back in the house and kept telling myself that it was to big to be a silkie. So I got curious and finally found my mag light and went back out there. I really had not thought about the animal being a cat.
But I'm relieved that my silkie is alive. She got lots of kisses this morning.

DH had to shoot a stray Tom Cat on Saturday. It had been to our house 3 times in a few days fighting with our nice kitties and raising a ruckus in the chicken pen. I thought the kids would be devastated but they seem to be really good at differentiating between an animal that is causing a problem and an animal that isnt. DH was worried the dog would drag it up to the house so we dumped in int he burning barrel and piled pine branches and a few bags of trash on it and lit 'er up.

stray cats are not just a nuisance but can be a danger too. I was bitten by a stray cat that was in my cellar and had to go through the ordeal of a rabies series, not fun.
you did the right thing

Cat bites and claws are nothing to be waved off. My uncle ended up in the hospital when we caught the feral cat on our property to get it fixed (caught the kittens too, found them good homes)

At one point, he was holding his arm outstretched from his body, fingers spread, and the cat was literally hanging from his thumb by it's teeth. 6'8" tall 250lb ex-soldier and he got put in the hospital for four days by a 7lb cat. He almost went into shock. Fortunately, they didn't have to amputate, but he still has scars on his hand that make it look like he tried to stick it down a garbage disposal.
