Vet tech gets bit - Dog now on death row

Wow if that was the case my cat Pudus would have used up all 9 of his lives during his 3 day hospital stay 8 years ago. He literally bit everyone he came in contact with I think at some point.

he was SO bad. he would never have bitten me nor has he but he was so afraid of the hospital and the strange people. He had been a rescue many years ago and was always skittish to everyone but me. He was also so scared of taking pills that they gave me a pill shooter to use and had me wrap him up in a towel like a burrito when I gave him his meds with the thing.

Anyway I felt horrible even after I got the $4000 vet bill

I cant imagine if they sued me!

Oh, good lord...this is just yet another person that has absolutely NO BUSINESS at all working with animals. Beyond ridiculous. The environment inside an animal hospital is not even remotely similar to that elsewhere. The poor dog was probably terrified and partially sedated. Even the most loving, friendly animals can sometimes lash out in that environment. When you work professionally with animals, you have to expect that they will attempt to injure you and will sometimes succeed. A bite on the face from a Dachshund? Please. The vet I worked for once got partially between the back wall of a lean-to shed and a cow. The result was a shattered knee and broken leg. It is a risk you KNOWINGLY accept when you work with animals. Injuries can happen in a second, especially if you let your guard down. Working in a vet hospital is not all rainbows and puppy dogs. LOL

The two stories are very different. In one the woman says her dog bit the vet tech while she was holding the dog, in the other she says she didn't see what happened. If you are holding the dog, you should be able to see what is going on. This was in lobby, I sort of doubt the tech was holding scissors in the lobby, but who knows. It sounds like the town is going after it, not the tech. But it is a hazard of the job.

Personally, every weiner dog I've ever met has been nasty and snappy. And the owners think they are lovely and precious.

My dachshund has perfect manners and is safe around other dogs and children. She especially loves babies, and visits the sick and dying in care facilities where she shows extreme sensetivity to those who are near death. She completed canine good citizen training.
Many doxies have bad manners, but so do MOST people's dogs. I can't believe the behavior people allow thier labs and goldens sometimes.... and they call it freindly.

To me the important part of the story is in the details. It has been mentioned that the dog defecates at the vet office. That means the dog is probably terrified no matter what is going on, and if it had been to that office before, a good vet team would be prepared for that patients needs. If they couldn't handle a scared dog, they should have said so. Any dog or animal that is scared can be dangerous, and it's stupid to blame the animal if you ignore that fact.

The question here is how bad was the bite? sure a bite is a bite but did the dog do so much damage that it will take years to heal? don't vet tecs have health insurance just in case?
