Vet tech gets bit - Dog now on death row

A former classmate of mine became a dentist and worked on kids. I asked if he got bit. He told me he did a lot, but that wasn't the worst of what he suffered. It is a typical hazard for human dentistry. Should dogs really be held to a higher standard?

ETA: I guess I read it differently than some others. I took it to mean that the vet tech leaned over into the dogs face, in a manner that the owner couldn't see the techs face. The tech then turned around, the owner asked what what was wrong and the tech said he bit me.
Both statements I read said the owner did not see it happen.

IMO, if the tech had her head down in the dogs face, the owner couldn't have seen it happen while she was holding the dog, unless she was holding the dog at her eye level.

That is strange that they said the dog needs to be put down. From what I've heard that if a person's dog bites someone they have to prove the dog was vicious in the past. If the dog has bite somone for the first time then it's the owners job to make sure it doesn't happen again and to warn people about the possibility that the dog could bite. If the dog does bite someone again then it can be put down.

Has any one had this happen?

I am on the Petition page to save Spork, and every time I hit sign it says error try again later.

being a tech myself, that is a bunch of bs. It is part of your job, covered under insurance. what. people are too messed up these days. I have been biten by dogs, horses and cats and pecked by chickens. Never would I think to go to these measures. It's a part of being an animal lover, take chances and live life people

I agree! As a tech we know that bites come with the job, I bet when she went to have her wound treated the hospital called animal control, that is what always happens in our area! Especially if the dog isn't up to date on its rabies vaccine!
As far as having your vet sign a waiver not to sue you if they get bit, it's actually the opposite, thats why they always insist that a tech hold your pet when they treat it, because owners have sued and won when they were bit by their own pet while the vet was treating it!
