Violete Peafowl

I would say there is not much difference between the purple peacock and the European violete peacock.
The problem is not there!
I think that in the US there are peacocks purple line who are NOT at all purple.
Why purple peacocks black shoulder have hardly never really purple hues?

Dany, how does this cock measure up to other Purples? Or are these pictures good enough to tell?

What do you think of my Video

I have a couple of Purple "European" buys Lorenz Husterer

for me the difference with the purple no doubt !!!

Cordially

Most of the new mutation appear as a spontaneous mutation .
I'm wrong if i say :
The first bird of a sex-linked mutation as to be a male !
The males in sex-linked colors are more "normal" ... they need two genes shows the color.
It is the female that are odd she is needed a single gene to show the color.
Agenetic formula of a female for the color is :pr B ( purple-blue) .... purple gene is dominant?

If the purple was dominate, It wouldn't be a sex linked color?

It isn't about dominant, it's about location of the gene, in this case on the sex gene. Purple & blue are not alleles.

Yes, I believe you are incorrect. Blue and purple are not alleles.

I am not sure of what your genetic formula is supposed to represent. Particularly the -O. When referring or showing sex linked genes, I like to include the X/Y or Z/W annotation to make it clear along with the normal color annotation. Thus a purple hen would be IB/IB:Xpr/Y where pr is purple. The male would be IB/IB:Xpr/Xpr. Note that I use X/Y but Z/W is really the bird convention.

Forgive me for butting in and asking stupid questions, but could any non sex linked color be where you have IB/IB?
