Waiting for 9/22 hatch date! I put fertile eggs under the broody hen!

My little miracle chick survived and hatched out this morning....

Way to go scshev! If that's your only peep then raising it as a pet ought to be easy. There's something so "different" about a chicken that follows you around and jumps into your arms. My 1st expirence with that was wit my oldest hen "Leftovers". Course she was the only hen with like 9 roosters running around. Shed jump into my arms to get away. Still, it was so cute. Congrats on Miracle.

Miracle chick still has some pieces of shell dried onto its bottom and leg. I think some of the yolk got dried onto the feathers as well. Should I take it out and soak it in a bowl of warm water to peel it off or just let it be and don't do anything? It is still in the incubator with a few eggs that still have 1 week to go. I have the brooder ready but I'm not sure about the "cakes on stuff"

I would just wipe Miracle with a warm wet washcloth and make sure she dries completely. Having the eggshell and yolk on her is not as bad as being damp, in my opinion. Congratulations!

I peeked under her this morning and nothing is happening. Today is day 20. Of course it's kind of hard to look under a growling, fluffed up bird but I don't hear anything or see any movement.

I only have two eggs left under her. I don't know how I'm going to get through the waiting when we're this close! Especially when I can't hover!!!

We have pipping! Both eggs. I don't hear anything but they both pipped. I just had to peek again while I was passing out treats. It's rainy here with 90% humidity. I hope that doesn't affect the eggs adversely. I assume being under mama ensures a properly controlled environment. I want to add a happy dancing icon but I will wait. Got a long way to go.
