Yeah, I do have movement inside 1 egg>>>the EE is still alive. The SSH which is a smaller breed shows no movement at all. Today is day 22 and still no noise or pips, but I'm thankful there is still life after being cold for 8 hours. Worse part of this is that my white leghorn is STILL BROODY!!! URGGG....I guess she was just freaked out feeling the movement in the eggs and decided to lay some place else. How long do I wait? This is the end of day 22 and still nothing.....
UPDATE: I came home to 1 more chick. I moved 1 mama(buffy) into a bird cage type thing with food and water for her and the chicks. I came home and there was one Brown bantam chick (newby) coming up to me in the coop it self. So it must have been from the other hen. I took little guy and put him in with my other hen Buffy and she seemed to accept him ok. I put him under her wing. It was coop up time then. The other hen didn't seem to miss it she was still sitting on 1 viable egg. I need to find another enclosure for mama to stay in with her chicks. It wouldn't be possible to put them both in the same right? Its like 2 1/2 feet wide by 1 foot deep by 1 foot tall. I'd think it'd be too small for both of them their chicks and food and water.
ANOTHER CHICK HATCHED!!! I have two under Polly now! They look identical and have fuzzy feathered legs! That means they are bantam cochin / EE crosses! I'm so glad I got two. She seems to be such a good mama.
I noticed today my broody had a bloody comb. Didn't think much of it. But I decided to switch chickens around and put mom and babies in my small coop so they would have more room. When I was moving the chicks, I noticed one of them was pecked on the eye. It doesn't seem to be the eye itself, but the top edge of the eye. So mom was obviously trying to protect it and cut herself up on the chicken wire. I hope the little one will be okay.
Congrats to everyone! Double for you along with a big side of luck scshev!
One of my late bloomers I put in an incubator hatched last night. I got up at 6am and took the little furball out to the coop (all dry and fluffy) and stuck it under the momma hen. I'm posting this with my phone waiting for dawn to see if shell accept the little guy.
Update-
Super fluffy has adopted the incubated baby without incident.
