Walmart feed

if your birds free range in a yard with bugs, sunlight, dirt, and grass than you will not notice as much of a difference in your birds's health when using cheap feeds as you will when birds are kept in breeding cages made for a pair or trio. i dont even feed my free range flock they eat bugs, grass, and whatever the horses dont eat. however i buy the most expensive feed for my breeders it costs 28$ a bag

The If is the thing. The government makes sure ours is always cheaper, at least when it comes to corn an wheat. An the grains that we do import a lot of will be imported weather you buy from walmart or some co-op

On paper we import an export everything but at the port level you just dont see corn inbound just like you dont see bananas outbound.

There are lots of valid reasons to hate on walmart, they do lots of bad things that never become public. Those thing are much better to spend your time worrying about than if there corn might be imported.

Dont buy it as a vote ageist walmart if thats how you feel. But trying to add a unfounded fear for a product just because it is on there shelves will not win supporters.

I'm not sure what Wal*Mart has to do with voting but I watched the video. Can't say that I learned anything new. All those mom and pops were making money just like Sam. Only Sam figured out how to market the products cheaper. Wal*Mart saves the average family a LOT of money. Money they can spend on other things that they may not be able to afford if all they had was a mom and pop that has to charge higher rates. They could possibly afford chicken feed for their backyard flock. I suppose there are similar videos out there from when the "Shopping Mall" became popular and all the downtown stores were foced out of business. Or how all th IGAs went bust because chain grocery stores could sell at a better price. I have never seen a large company that didn't have a few bad apples in management and if the salery or the hours you get are not enough, stop sniveling and find a better job. I have never heard of Sam or his company holding anyone at gun point to work at Wal*Mart. Usually when a new store opens, there are 10 applications for every available position. Why would anyone want to work in such dismal conditions? Maybe because there are lots of companies and unions that don't like Wal*Mart and they put this campaign together to slander them.

BTW Amish buying electrical supplies??? Really??? I wonder what professional media group put this video together.

As I said, to each their own. I will buy from Wal*Mart when it is the best deal, just like I buy from my local mill because the have the best value. After all Wal*Mart is an American company employing millions of Americans. In lots of places they are the single largest employer in town.

I'll get of the box now.

It really doesn't have anything to do with this thread - what's in any food may or may not be imported and you should never assume that it's not unless you walked out and saw the combines working - but the US does indeed import wheat and corn. For real. Not just on paper. The futures reports used to end up on my desk for editing; they're not my responsibility anymore (thank goodness) but as of last year it was in the millions of metric tons for wheat. No matter how good the US subsidies are, if we've got bad weather and the good-to-excellent numbers are in the bucket, and Argentina is enjoying a bumper crop, Cargill is going to ship it up from Argentina. Canada we'll buy from even if conditions are great here, because Canada does durum better than we do. The frozen-dough market wants extra gluten and Canada's wheat has it, so we'll pay a premium for it even if our flour is cheaper.

Ugh - memories of HRW and HW and SRW and SW in massive charts and trying to keep the spring varieties straight... grain imports and exports have to be one of the most pernicious topics that exist. However, take my brain pain as proof that we really DO bring in grains to this country.

Does it look and smell delicious??? would you eat it??? If not... get a little better at the feeding program... should be irrisistable...smell good and make you want a box of cheeze its!!!

And I've been in many a Wal-mart & have never seen one that DOES have it.

From what I hear, many do. However, this must be a store by store, or regional thing.

The closest WalMart has feed for chickens, horses, cows, and hogs as well as various livestock supplies. The next two closest WalMarts (in the direction of Houston) stock nothing more exotic than tropical fish food.

I wish I had feed stores nearby with better prices. I may try out the WalMart feed.

Aloha,

I Have purchased feed from different Feed Stores on my Island Home. I have also Purchased 3-way scratch and Layer Pellet (what they have sold) at Wal*mart. But My hens have a problem with the Layer they will not eat it. Plus it is 40#s NOT 50#'s. The price is give or take 3 Dollars less than Del's Farms Supply. But my birds prefer that Del's Farms feed compared to Wal*mart. But if it is scratch the will eat from whatever store. But I get my scratch from another store called Wai Ulu Farms due to price and mix. (well balanced 3-Way) Unless there is another store that has a sale then I will purchase my scratch there. The Wal*Mart brand has a weird smell compared to Del's Farms and other select stores. Other stores have only 10# bags.

I have also purchased at:
Maui Feed Farm Supply
Kula Feed Store
Hanzawas Store

OOPS! I think I have gone over the topic.

I like these other stores but I have have to go with the vote of the chooks!
