Walmart feed

Grain is grain and mashed up ofal or wild horses for protien is protien. I've looked at the local Wally world for feed and did'nt see any. I'll be looking again more carefully. Here the local suppliers are Agway (11.30) and Blue Seal (12.00). I swtich back and forth for chicken variety. They do complain about the same old same old. Though I try to stick with the Agway as it's crumbles are bigger. The Blue Seal crumbles are nearly mash and is more wastful. Persnickity chickens will eat a bug but disdain food that falls on the ground that's not scratch.

It must be a regional thing. At the Walmart where I used to live they sold livestock feed. They had a whole aisle for it and a few other items for livestock in the pet section. I have not seen it in the Walmart where I live now. I didn't have chickens until I moved here so I do not know if the feed is good feed. I didn't buy my horse feed there though. I had heard that it wasn't as good as Purina/Nutrina. I do not know that for a fact though.

Our walmarts don't carry chicken feed either.....but our Sam's club has horse feed!

Somebody mentioned earlier that companies don't make lower quality products for different stores and this is not correct. I was in liquidation for 4 years. For example, huggies used to make a Kmart brand diaper. It was a lower quality diaper, however it did not have the Huggies brand name on it. It was Kmarts brand name. When you see the same brand name it will be the same quality.....they need to protect their brand after all! However companies do make different qualities of the same products under different names and store brands. Its very common. It actually helps keep their main brand stronger since they have a way to make money on lower quality ingredients without using them in their main brand.

Spartacus....I didn't watch the video yet, but I live in Amish country and there are lots of things they buy that would surprise you! I see them at walmart all the time. The mennonites especially. They post ads on craigslist. They always post a phone number and when you call, its like a main number for the whole community. They always call back and they do great work! Their lumberyards are amazing! They do have electric.....but they use a generator.

None here at our walmarts niether. I bet rebel cowboy wishes he hadnt made that broad statement.

The Super Wal-Mart over to Chiefland in Levy county has chicken feed and I believe horse feed as well. I don't recall seeing anything but pet food in the Wal Marts in Gainesville. Haven't been to the Super Wal-Mart in Gainesville yet though.

It's all about what they think they can sell. If enough people in the area had elephants they'd sell elephant feed.

I don't buy feed from Wal-Mart so I can't speak to the quality or the lack thereof. I would not automatically assume that it's any worse than what you're getting from some other source. Wal-Mart doesn't mill feed any more than they make shoes. They have to buy it from somewhere. The mill that makes it may make a better grade or they may use the same feed components for Wal-Mart's feed as they do for your feed. If you're getting good results with it then I don't see much to worry about so far as the animals are concerned. Now if you have an issue with Wal-Mart itself that would be different. I don't shop there much myself.

I remember when Winn Dixie sold horse, cow and chicken feed in the dog food isle. Never have seen it at our local Walmarts but selling livestock feed in rural area where there is very little competition is a profitable idea.
