Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK, I may be a little repetitive here, and I have read up on some other forums.... but I am just going to assume that I am special and have a completely original concern, lol!

There are some breeds that I specifically, really, really want to look at in my backyard, one of each of:

Mottled Cochin Bantam
love.gif

Exchequer Leghorn
German Spitzhauben
Golden Laced Polish
Red Shouldered Yokohama
(ETA): Partridge or Buff Silkie

My issues are 1.) Online Hatcheries never have all the breeds of chicks I want at the same time, 2.) WOW! Shipping.... and 3.) If I get them all at separate times, won't I spend a lot of time with quarantine/flock introductions/other chicken-spaz things? Oh, 4.) Would any of you wonderful chicken peeps know where/who would have this combo???

(ETA): Haha, when I first wanted chicks, there were only 4 kinds I wanted and they are pretty different than the ones I want now

is this what is refered to Chicken Math and I don't even have them yet???!

Hallerlake breeds Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, and if the internet is correct then that is what you're looking for.

Quote: Thanks TerrorBird! Just look at his/her page and they are GORGEOUS! I will be sure to IM Hallerlake when I get home from "work"!

Its been challenging finding all the random birds in one spot, though. I have no patients for CL anymore... Half the people aren't even real and DH and I are never on the same page when it comes to picking up something from there...all I hear is "I wanna boat!" all he hears is "I WANT CHICKENS!"

With the combination of chickens that you want, I don't know that you'll be able to find them in one spot. I know I've seen the Yokohamas on CL before; they were on a farm (the name of which I do not remember). Hopefully, you can find all of them around the same time at least!

RareFeathersFarm?

There is a young lady who occasionally visits this forum - -I think she has those red-shouldered thingies. I'm pretty sure she has Yoko's. I may be misspelling her screen name, but I think it's RareFeathersFarm. She's up north - Omak or Okananananangan.

You've selected very pretty, and some what difficult to find birds :)

Yes, I make easy things difficult

Wow, the Okananananananangan, eh? Yeah, I've heard of it, lol!
I have family that way, but yikes! What a drive for a family that has sworn off roadtrips unless there is a beach involved, hehe!! Those Red Shouldered Yokohama's lay pretty colored eggs I guess, and I wanted a HUGE variety, I think I did well! Now the trick is to get them in my yard and not eat each other! That's my job

(yes, I have that same smile on my face!)

I have Spitzhauben. I have some chicks that are about a month old. I will have more in the spring. I will also have Brabanters in the spring. Surely, you need one of those.

There is a lady in the Bothell area that breeds Buff Silkies. Not sure if she still has any to sell, but it might be worth a try. You can PM me for contact info.

No, that's not what I mean. There are Black Copper and Blue Copper (haven't seen a spash yet either...), that show the red. That is the copper coloring. Then there are Blue, Black and Splash Marans, with no copper/red. Just solid colors. You keep saying you have blue coppers and black coppers, yet I see no red coloring on yours? They look solid, like pure BBS? That's where I'm confused.

If you have "coppers" in the incubator, they will have more red in them. I'm trying to do work on the pure French BBS Marans, working with splash, primarily. So it seems we are working on opposite projects, you want more red/copper, and I don't want any!!! LOL! Clear as mud?!!?

OK, yes I have coppers in the bator !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I have a few hens alive already that have slight copper necks.
I am workig on it...SSSSh h !
