we have oranges in s. cali if ya want any!

So oranges are ok for chickens? What about apples? My DH gave my chickens some granny apples and I didn't know if they were ok for them. He got yelled at...don't feed my chickens unless I know they can handle it. LOL

I wish I lived closer, I would take them.

I bet they can be shipped, but who know what it would cost. Get this, my Aunt sends us a box of fruit for X-mas every year. It's from Pittman & Davis. It's shipped out of Texas. We never know what the combo will be from year to year. Sometimes is Apples and Pears, but this year it was Oranges & Grapefruits. YUMMY!

I still have some in the frig. The funny thing is that they are shipped from Tx and she lives in Fla, the orange capital of the world. I always get a kick out of that.

Hey Weeble, can't you use a juicer and make juice and the freeze that? If not, I'm sure MissPrissy can think up about a half a million recipes for you to use those oranges in, lol!!! If you know anyone with a koi pond, they will appreciate them too...I cut oranges in half and throw them in my pond every day and they clean them out totally , then scoop out the empty peel and throw it in your garden for compost.

Chickens do eat Oranges, but some don't like them.. My girls are pretty picky - they had one small orange once, and they did pick a hole in it - but didn't finish it off - unlike the Broccoli I threw in today

Oh they also got the grilled cheese sandwich crust my daughter wouldn't eat - that disapeared in no time!
I'm finally getting better at giving them left-overs from the kitchen... they get the apple peel and core from my kids! THey go nuts for that!

(tomorrow they're getting carrots left over from dinner)

Apples are fine southern, mine stand under the apple tree all day and eat the ones that have fallen on the ground.

Mine eat the oranges, limes, and lemons off my trees too. I actually was able to rescue 28 lemons tonight off my tree that were high enough that my girls could not reach them!!

Tommorrow, I am making Lemon Bread with them!! YUMMMMM

okay, yah, i am enjoying my "warm weather" showin' off posts a bit.
but remember, i did TWELVE YEARS in minnesota. i did my time.
i don't mind looking into shipping a few to folks who would really like some. these aren't those big giant grocery store oranges though. they are smaller but very sweet!
let me find out how many i can fit into a flat rate box and i'll let ya'll know!

i pulled a bunch of one tree tonight and took them to a gathering. i really am trying to find these oranges new homes (ha ha ha). i wasn't kidding, it is sad to see so many of them on the ground.

and to all of you suffering through the sleet and snow hang in there - spring will be here soon enough!
