Thanks, and your post made me investigate the Alert button, look at the right bottom of list and you can select only alerts you would really want to see.

Um, I didn't got that far yet.....

Nope, they don't go away, just that pesky "hey, you gotta look right here right now or you're going to miss something extremely critical and the world as we know it will cease to exist" red number! The list of them is still there - just not in your face. I was just going to check out that alert preferences thingy when I poured my tea.

Click on the Account button - top right side of the big screen and select
YOUR CONTENT.

Oh, here we go with the "hover" thing again. If you're on your computer and it has a touch screen, you have to "click" on your account button....hovering is totally useless to those of us with one of those. That's one of the things that had me in tears the other night, trying to make MY computer do what everyone else's was doing, until I think Nifty explained that difference to me.

I edited it to "click" hover doesn't work there for me either

I spent my first few days figuring out how to turn those off for most everything...and any emails too.

My romance with the new BYC is in full heat. I love-love-LOVE it! My very, most favoritest thing is the "Alert" feature. Nothing, but NOTHING, gets missed! No telling how many threads I lost track of with the old site.

Only one thing I'm having a somewhat awkward problem with. It would be very helpful if the original poster could be identified down-thread so we can structure our replies. Often a new-to-BYC poster hitchhikes on an OPs thread, and it's difficult to keep track.

One of my favorite things about the old platform...feedback I got is that: it's not gonna happen with new platform..so sad.
