I have a black silkie, but don't have any other partridge besides her. I suppose I could try breed her to black. She's been being bred to white and I've gotten mostly silver/greys from her. I have this one now though, only a day old, from her and that white rooster, that I'm curious about. It's the closest thing I've had to what might be her. I may keep this one.

I guess I assume they'd have black heads but she never did. Maybe some of those silver/grey ones could be like her. I'll have to try grow a few different ones out.

Whoa! Sola’s mom looks kind of like one of my silkies!!! And I don’t know her parentage at all and have wondered how she came to look like that. Maybe I can breed her to a silver based boy and see what happens!

I’m not sure where Sola’s parents came from, they came from a mixed silkie pen but I think something else might have gotten into the pen as they have regular combs! Sola’s dad also has blue tips on his wings and his tail feathers which I think is unusual for silkies? I’m not sure!

When they have straight combs, that means something else is mixed in there. If you're not into showing them, then it doesn't matter. If you were selling chicks, you'd just call them pet quality silkies and so many people don't care as they're just beautiful anyway.

The eggs were sold to me as show quality! I don’t mind though, they’re the best little characters. I have a splash hen as well, I might see what happens if I breed her with Sola, could be a very interesting combination.

It's a good thing you aren't upset, as I would be. People can't sell "show quality" silkie eggs that are mixed breeds. If you have a way to let her know you're happy but people have pointed this out to you, she should start calling hers "pet quality," not show quality.

You might have paid more for those thinking they actually were show quality too as they are definitely higher priced.
