Went to Wal-Mart...and got Mira! Getting clipped!

quite normal. They do it with their littermates as they grow. She doesn't have someone to kick her butt when she gets too ruff. When she bites, put her down. Get her some toys that will (chemo brain can't think of the word I want

) feathers on a string, ribbon, glittery balls, jinglely balls, etc.

no, that's not really normal... even a feral kitten, gotten young enough, will stop hissing etc once they realize you = food source. i almost wonder if she might have a hidden injury or something. does she have a pattern about when she does it?

ETA: well, i guess it depends on HOW she's doing it. like, is she playing when she does it? cos that's totally normal. but if she's being vicious, trying to get away from you and acting fearful or reactionary, not just being playful, then that is not normal.

Yeah..shes just learning how to be a big-girl kitty... learning how to spit.. how to attack.. how to hunt...
All things she would have learned from mom... shes just learnig all these things about being a kitty now. Things she would have learned if she had been raised in a litter...
Just remember..never play with her with your hands.. that teaches them to attack hands..
... just have plenty of cat toys handy.. those long feathers on a stick are good for things like that.... but NO letting her play with your hands.

Thats typical of calicos. They are very fiesty. My daughter had named her cat Angel, but I swear she was the devils spawn. When she was little, we wrapped her in a towel and held her tight. She did it sometimes when she was older, but we just grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and put her outside. if yours is an indoor cat, just put her in a different room and walk away.

I just found this, what a beautiful story! I am glad that the vet put her on Amoxi, the symptoms sound like she might have feline herpesvirus. It's not the same as the STD herpes, FHV it causes respiratory symptoms. One form is rhinotracheitis, and it can turn into pneumonia and kill really fast, especially with very young kittens. It's actually very common, and Amoxicillin works really good on the symptoms. But it is a virus, and if they have it they will always be a carrier.

I think you saved her life twice and what you did is AMAZING!!!

Mine was named Mow Mow which is Cat-Cat=Kitty Kitty in Chinese. Her nickname was "Pshyco Kitty" She would set on the arm of the couch and swat you in the butt when you walked by and then look around the room like "I didn't do it" She removed the ear of a neighbors German Shepherd when it dared to enter our yard when her kittens were on the porch. She actually road the thing back to it's house ripping off his ear in the process. Another neighbor had to have their dog put on doggie prozac after it wandered down the street to our house and she ran the thing all the way back up the road to his house. It refused to come back out of the house for 6months and never left the yard after that. She even chased a neighbor back to their own house when they came and knocked on our door when we weren't home. Guard Kitty. She would run from the neighborhood dogs but used a divide and conquer method of dealing with them. More than once I've seen a poor dog straining at the end of it's chain trying to get out of her reach while she sat and ate the food out of their food dish!!
