What are some pain relievers for ducks that don’t require a prescription?

He's acting a bit better.

He never lost his appetite. He's still eating like a pig and I've been giving lots of extra treats.

I'm so glad to hear that, I wonder if an antibiotic would be a good idea, adding some to his water?

I started reading about treating FB and got distracted will now go see if I can find any info. In Storey's book on Rasing ducks he rec oral antibiotics such as penicillin and Terramyciin to reduce the chance of infection. also says not to rub affected parts

Today the outer portion of his right foot came off exposing everything underneath. It's all dead. I held his foot up to the light and I don't see any blood veins. The muscle is discolored and I don't think he has any feeling left in his toes.

His left foot is purple, but it's still holding together ok.

What about a warm moist compress to help encourage blood flow? Take a sock fill it with plain (dry) rice and stick it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time til it's as warm as you want it. Test it on your wrist to make sure it's a not too hot. The rice when heated creates a moist warmth that helps with healing and promoting tissue growth through increased blood supply to the affected areas.

Now I am wondering if getting some Veterycin spray{TSC} would be a good thing to use since it only needs to be sprayed and you don't have to touch the foot at all.
