What are you baking now?

This recipe makes a lot of crisp sugar cookies.

Sugar Cookies (Janet's Grandma's Recipe)

Cream:
2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs and mix well.

Add:
1 cup oil
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Beat until creamy.

Stir in:
5 cups flour
Mix well, form into 1-inch balls; flatten balls with a fork dipped in sugar. Sprinkle colored sugar on top of cookies.

Bake at 350° about 12 minutes.

I finally tried the recipe for apple dumplings that uses Mountain Dew & refrigerated crescent roll dough.
Not sure you really need the soda - it doesn't seem to add anything to the recipe.
Maybe sub orange juice instead?

Anyhow, they came out good and were not soggy on Day #2.
I used a small can of rolls - makes 4 - as I wasn't sure I'd like the result.

For a full recipe:
1 can of crescent rolls - 8 rolls to the package

2 large apples, peeled ,cored & cut into quarters

Open the rolls and separate into 8 wedges

Starting at the wide end, roll up one apple quarter in each wedge of dough, stretching the dough to cover the apple, pinch seams shut.

Place in an ungeased pan

Melt 6 Tablespoons of butter & stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 3/4 cup Mountain Dew.

Pour over the dumplings.

Bake covered at 350 for 15 minutes, uncover & bake 15 minutes more.

These are sooooo yummy and easy to make. My kids used to make these for their after-school snack. They would put them together and stick them in the oven, by the time they were done with their homework the little dumplings would be ready to eat.

Sounds like a Cee Dub camp fire cast iron cooking type of dump cake, great fun.
