What are you canning now?

There is no real way to can a cream soup without a pressure canner is there? I made "cream of backyard soup"

it has homegrown celery, onion, garlic, potatoes, and parsnip and it is ever so yummy! Alas I have no pressure canner

I'm canning beans. I've been having so much fun with my canning that I just don't want to stop so I went to the store and bought a whole bunch of dried beans and canned them. We now have another 70 pints of canned black and red beans. What's next? Wish I had some salmon to can....

You can probably freeze it when it's cooled. I freeze my soups in the gallon sized zip lock bags. I lay them flat on a cookie sheet in freezer until they are solid then you can remove cookie sheet. Cookie sheet prevents them from taking on the shape of your freezer and adhering to the bars/shelves.

i use recycled 1/2 pint cream pots, put freezer bag in pot fill and stand in freezer, when frozen you can take the bag of soup out of the pot and reuse,

I just defrosted butternut squash soup that I did this with and it had heavy cream in it and it was perfect.... Never made your soup so can't be 100% certain but it's worth a try I'd think. I know some people who buy Organic milk at Costco once a month and freeze milk, now this I've also never tried and probably never will try... LOL

ooh! what's a cream pot?

So my friend just dropped off a bushel of pears from her tree with an invitation to come and get more if I wanted....what should I do with them? Just can them and call it done? That's what I normally do, but are there any good, different recipes out there for pears?

I'm open for suggestions!

I've seen recipes for spiced pears and brandied pears in the Ball Blue Book.

You could also can pear puree or pear nectar or pear juice. My mother eats pear puree like applesauce and puts it in bran muffins.

Ok, last night four 1/2 pints of Lavender Jelly, eight 1/2 pints of Plum jam and one 12oz jar of plum jam.

I am down to 1 package of jars.

I've cleaned out 3 of the closest walmarts... going to check TSC, but I was told way back they've been out of the jam size for months.
