What are you canning now?

Where I live the older generation do little canning, hard to find any in the 2nd generation, and (most) of the 3rd wants the 1st and 2nd to do all the work and have the goodies given to them. I have to say the I'm fortunate because most of my neighbors gives me the produce and I can it, them give them some of the finished product, and I keep the rest. Sounds like a good deal to me. I am teaching a neighbor to can pickles because she can't get enough from me. My DF are pickleholics!

I got my DH to the kitchen store to price a pressure canner today they only had presto's for $100...I plan on checking on line...They already had the cans out and the new Ball book which I will need...He has agreed that putting by foods we grow would be a good idea...He loves to cook so we can can together...we are also going to enlarge the garden...

Today I made my first orange marmalade. How come nobody told me it's so labor intensive?!?! If I give *any* away, it'll only be to people who really are appreciative of the labor involved. Sheeesh it's a lot of work!!

I wound up with 2 pints and 7 half-pints. Yum!!

The Seville oranges are supposed to be the best. The recipe I used called for Seville, Clementines, and lemons. I used navel, blood oranges, and lemons. The result is a reddish marmalade - very pretty!
