What are you canning now?

Canning yourself gives you a better selection of designer jams and jellies. Plus other specialized things not commercially made due to cost and demand.

I saw some wild grapes hanging and wonder how many I would need to make a batch of jam. Anyone know?

About 5 pounds.

Just picked 5 gallons of wild grapes and those were just the ones next to my house! Off to the steam juicer.

Just wanted to give all my BYC Buddies a heads up! I am having a refferal contest on the farm's facebook page. Winner gets a free bar of handmade soap. Click the link in my signature for more information!

Sorry you're feeling badly, get some local honey and warm tea!!! AND humidifier and Vitamin c...... Wish I were closer I have the tea and honey!!! Love and hugs and prayers to your health! Nancy

I have a question and maybe it's been answered already but I don't have time to look. I am wanting to make raspberry and blackberry syrup, but I am not wanting to put it in your typical "Jam Jars" type jars. I'd like to use a more "syrup style bottle", for easy pouring. Does anyone know if these are even available and if so, where I might get them? TIA!!!

Daughter and I are going out to an endurance ride this weekend, so we'll be gone 3 days and had a bunch of ripe tomatoes. Didn't have time to can tonight, so I froze many quarts of tomato puree as well as 3 quarts of green beans.

any one got a recipe for the wild grapes.

Also if I have tomato frozen can I thaw them and then can them? I'm concerned about having things in the freezer. What if the power goes out like in Vermont. Lord help those poor people.

what is a "steamer juicer"?

The link under the "about 5 pounds" in my previous response to you goes to a whole page of wild grape recipes. Including conserve, jam, and several jellies.
