i had wanted to home school.
and...i really want goats...and ducks. we live in LA, so we could do these things, but would have to "sacrifice" more of our back yard. it is a regular size yard.
we are vegan/vegetarian as well. We are deciding if we would eat the eggs from our organic, free range, and well loved chickens. My son says NO, I say yes, and my husband is undecided, but is excited for french toast!

Yes! Love my Jerseys! Mine are gentle giants. We have Orpingtons (Buff & Lavender), Black Australorps, Production Reds, Jersey Giants, Amberlinks, Barred Rocks, and a couple of mixed breeds. I just hatched some Ameraucanas, AustraWhites, Bielefelders, OEGB, and Sage Eggers. I'm getting ready to put some French Blue/Black Copper Marans & some more Ameraucana eggs in the incubator.

Lol. We live in Middle of Nowhere, NC. My backyard is up for the sacrificing because it's practically woods. I told my husband that I'm no longer growing anything that can't be eaten, so here we are.

I am already planning on them tilling my garden, so I figure a few eggs won't be a problem. My oldest son, 9, wants to make a business out of it.
 
We only hatched out one chick, a rhode island red x black australorp. We think he's a roo, but we have no idea tbh. I'm currently raising him like he's my baby.

Besides michael gary (the chick), we have one Rhode Island red rooster, 3 amber sex links, 3 black sex links, 2 australorps, and 12 chicks of different variety on the way.

my son is 9 too! he did make a business out of it! we made a mini company! we are just waiting for the eggs to come.
