like Boyd on the low end , house, land, and truck payed for. Am single so food cost low, air card for internet on cell phone plan.

if not for the taxes could be alot lower, pay about 500 a month for property tax, gasoline next biggest cost. Birds feed offset by sales of birds and hatching eggs.

High electric bill for us is $55 a month, Low about $30 (evaporative cooling)
Gas about $12 a month in summer and as high as $350 a mo. in January before I put in the wood stove.
Water, sewer, trash about $50 a month
Internet and land line phone $115 a mo. (!!!!!) No TV.
Temp range -16* to 116*
Mortgage, taxes, food= All of the rest of it
Spare time to be with family and BYC: Priceless

a family of 5, with plenty of animals living on an old farm house which needs loads of new renos including insulation and new windows all the way around. I spend a few hours each week budgeting.
my hydro is super crazy expensive, everything in this house is electric, we are on a well, but all the pumps and furnace etc runs on electricity, I pay about 800 a month during winter for hydro, tell me that is not nuts, last january the bill, no word of a lie was 1200 bucks. I just wanted to cry. every winter Dh gets laid off and doesn't make a whole lot with unemployment.

hydro, tv, internet/phone, car insurance, gasoline, groceries and household supplies, plus all the smokes my DH goes through is about 2200 a month, there is no money to spare in the winter months. summers are easier cause he is working.

We are right about $400 for bills, including cell and internet. We heat with wood and don't have A/C. We use energy efficient bulbs and are good about shutting off lights and rarely use the furnace.

Our rental house pays both mortgages, taxes and home and car insurances. I don't really count it, since we don't ever see it. It is just paid for.

I make a lot from scratch, and we go to Costco about once every 3 months. We rarely eat out, since we live (as Lilian Jackson Braun might say ) 400 miles north of everywhere, it seems like, so choices are limited.

Ouch!

ya, that is really the answer I get every time I mention how much my hydro really is!! the thing is we tried oil, but it was even more expensive, we tried wood and though wayyyy cheaper we had 3 fires in one year, so it wasn't really worth it, I figure we are not experienced enough to have a wood burning stove and I would be super paranoid now all the time, btw we had the chimney inspected, all the equipment was fine, its something the DH does that causes the fires!!!

How in the HECK do you folks get such LOW electric bills!
Mine is about $400...
And i don tleave lights on all day long either...
What AM i doing wrong??
