What breed don't you appreciate?

I'm shocked at how many people don't like silkies or frizzles. I'm guessing they don't like polish or sultans either.

My little flock is comprised of nothing but fun looking chickens - silkies, sultans, frizzles, and hopefully soon a few polish, oh and now some silver sebrights on the way.

I've heard silkies are great w/ kids and honestly with as many as I have, my last concern is egg producing. If they go broody because they see something they think they can hatch - well, that just makes them more entertaining. Any chicken that can make me laugh because she's trying to hatch produce is worth its weight in gold.

But mean chickens - YUCK!

lol at least I'm not alone in thinking turkens are strange looking....

Turkens freak me out with their nekkidness, frizzles I'm not fond of, RIRs... I never had an affectionate RIR hen, and had 2 super-nasty stew-pot-worthy roos... bantys, they're cute but I am all for eggs! lol.

One of the first chicks I purchased this year was a white laced red cornish rock. She was cute at first...but much more flighty than the light brahmas, so she got annoying and I didn't like her much. After she feathered out, I realized how pretty she is... not to mention, she's pretty smart (for a chicken). She wants to be a house chicken so bad. Lots of personality. I definitely got over my dislike...soooo I think, everyone's opinions have the ability to change!

I don't like ADHD chickens (Leghorns). The are great egg layers, but are spastic. Naked Necks look freaky. Sultins scare me. That's why I just got 2. I don't like them with heavly feathered legs, they seem handicapped. Mutt chickens are my favorites.

For me austrolorps are boring. Hatchery barred rocks and delewares never look that good. White crested black polish are boring, I see them all the time and they are never any good. Buff birds are too common, with the exception of a good buff leghorn or LF cochin. Bantam cochins are too common so they get boring. There are some other breeds that I dont care for, would have to see them to refresh my memory of why I dont like them. Basically I dont like the birds that there are billions of. I also like what someone else said about the silkies, how the "poor" silkies look better because they are chickens, not fluffy things that dont move. We have had hatchery and show silkies at the same time and the hatchery silkies were always out catchin bugs and dusting and being active while the show silkies rarely left the main pen, they just sat there and did nothing, they didnt even go broody.

I ordered silkies but ended up hatching 10 showgirls, and 2 silkies...i don't hate them as much in person as I thought I would....probably b/c I hatched them. I think the breed I like the LEAST would be RIRs b/c they are what everyone wants & so common...and i Have to agree about leghorns....total spazzzzzzz

Naked Necks *shudders* That Is All. *shudders again*

Seriously though, I am not a fan of the NN's, the showgirls, or those really tall, T-rex looking birds. One plus with them, I could probably turn my Dobie out, and the bird would probably teach ~him~ a lesson! I will probably get flogged for this one, but I don't see what the big deal is with buff Orpingtons....I do like the blue and splash ones though

my Brahmas, and my white crested blue (only one w/actual white crest, lol!) Polish, and now, the golden neck D'uccles I have (always said I didn't want a bantam) I realize everyone has different tastes, and it doesn't bother me at all, this discussion. I actually find it fun to read about others tastes/distastes.

Oh, and I *don't* like a few of my own birds-golden spangled Hamburgs; pretty little hens, but talk about spazzing out!

Those are some hideous birds. At a local duckpond I swear I saw one that looked just like Darth Maul's evil(er) twin brother.

That offends me

But yet it's so darn funny.

I can't say what breed I don't like... because I just can't think of one.

They are all my children

I think guineas are one of the ugliest things God ever put on our planet! And wouldn't you know. I have 5 eggs in the bator now! And please dont tell me those ugly things can breed with my hens!!
Ok now for my dislikes!
1. Cornish of any type! There legs make me want to die!

2. Nakid necks!!!!!! Enough said!
3. Bantams in general just bother me!
4. Anything with a buttercup or grossly large combs.
5. The large white ear lobed ones. EWWWW!!!!
6. The tall lanky game fowl.
I like large fowl. They can be any color. I do tolerate silkies only because of there broodiness.

I like beards, muffs, tufts, waddles, no waddles, I am not a real picky chicken owner....I just know what I like. And the things that I don't like............Well, I REALLY don't like!!!

Thanks for all the laughs! What a great post. I hope there is no hard feelings on anyones part. Hey we are all different, just like our chickens! LOL
