Hello,
I have a flock right now of 1 leg bar, 1 silkie cross, 1 light sussex, 1 faverolles, 1 baby pekin and a 1 pekin mix.
For my next hen, I would like to have a small sized hen.
Like a bantam and pekin size.

Can you give me some breeds.

I need to have an breed that is...
1. Good at laying eggs
2. Is small
3. Easy to handel with little children

Thank you

Well, I have always loved our rhodes island red and you can hardly ask for a better "egg-machine".
When I was a young girl (That is, when I was 5 and not 20 like I am noq) I could walk around with our 4 year old rhodes island red, called "Dotty", in a tiny wagon. I even put the poor thing in a little dress and she didn't complain or flail, bless her heart. Rhodes islands are however, a bit big.

If you would rather sacrifice a bit of the egg production and get the perfect cross between puppy and chicken, I would get a serama, they are a very friendly breed and you cant get a hen smaller than that.

You can use the links below to find the perfect breed for you, but remember, any breed can be a perfect pet as long as you raise it right:

I would suggest the following:
Orington: even tempered, nice size eggs, easy going within the flock
Cochin: Easy going, very friendly, frequently broody,
Easter Egger: Friendliest birds in my flock, good layers, pretty blue-green eggs
