What color is he?

I’m not sure if this is the right sub forum, but I just got a silkie rooster for future breeding projects, and I’m wondering what color he is called. Also I am new to silkies, so what type of hens should I get to be able to breed with him.

He doesn't fit exactly for any standard color but I suppose the closest would be silver partridge.

He's Silver Columbian.

A splash wouldn’t have a specific pattern of black in the tail and wings. He’s either a silver columbian (like buff but with the silver gene) or a gray x buff.

He’s silver. You can always test breed him to a black to be sure- black x splash always produces 100% blue chicks. Black x silver would produce black chicks with silver leakage or possibly silver chicks if the black is impure.

That depends, do you want to breed true to color or does that not matter to you? A lot of silkie breeders just breed mixed colors.
