What colour eggs should our 'Copper Blue Maran / Cream LegBar cross' actually lay please ??
We have her (Olive) and a 'Buff Sussex' (Maisie) both yet to start laying and this afternoon I found a rounder, shiny dark redish-brown egg in the main coop and not the nestbox, plus our other brown egg layer is a 9 month old Welsummer (Dottie) who lays darker, duller 'milk-chocolate' coloured egg and always in the nestbox.......
We were told by the breeder that Olive would probably lay a couple of weeks after Maisie as she's approx' 2wks younger, was badly bullied before we had her and is still smaller as she was denied food (as well as badly pecked) and we're feeding her up lol, so, is this Maisies first egg or Olives ?
Breeder was sure that she's both an 'Easter egger' and would lay 'olive' coloured eggs...............any ideas please folks ??:idunno

She should be an Olive Egger.
Marans being dark red, cream legbar being blue, should equal olive.

So looking like our Welsummer has been lazy but also produced a redder egg !
Mind you, our Cream LegBar was supposed to lay blue eggs but she's been laying creamy coloured ones with a definite pinkish tint (with some of THE hardest shells I've come across)
The wait for the newbies to lay continues then !
Thanks WVduckchick :thumbsup

If your cream legbar isn’t laying blue, she is not full blooded cream legbar. Or they aren’t her eggs? They should have some blue to them, or greenish tint at least. Have any pics of her?

Most eggs, and I think it’s especially visible in blues and dark reds, color will be more or less intense throughout each laying cycle. So your welsummer color will darken and lighten.

I had 2 pullets, both from Black Cooper Marans hen, fathered by Cream Legbar. They were both Olive, but obvious different shades from one girl to the other.
Left side from one, right side from other, CL egg in center, random bantam cochin egg on bottom
