What do people keep peafowl for?

I know they are beautiful....just wondering if they are kept for any other reason...

Apart from being beautiful there are several reasons people keep them:

Eggs
Feathers
Meat (pheasant-ish flavor)
Pets
and more

It can vary from person to person as to why they keep them.

Do you have roosters? And eating them would be very impractical.

Really? Ive known of at least one person who raised for show, and those that don't make his cut, end up in his stock pots.

I am sure it's not a common practice, but yes, it is done.

First cost might hurt a little Ethel has laid over 20 eggs that I sell for 10.00 apiece. She's setting on six herself right now. She and Pete are very intertaining and beautiful. Does everything have to be useful??
