What do you feed your dog?

People used to always comment on how soft and shiny Hooligan's coat was and they do the same with Brooks and Bettie. Our white dogs however never get "that shine" even with their "special" white shampoo lol
We used to use Revolution on all the dogs but gave it up after Sinatra lost all the hair along his back where it was applied. Its almost time to get Frontline though. Have you used www.entirelypets.com? Their stuff is REALLY cheap compared to the vets and petstores.

Holy cow! Their Frontline prices are awesome right now. I spend $92.00 for 6 months at our local vet.

Thanks for the link. As far as I'm concerned, they just got a new customer, LOL.

And they are super fast with shipping. Once they ship I usually get it within 2 days!
I get some of my scripts for chicken meds thru them, just have to get the vet to approve first.
And if you have an older dog the Glyco Flex prices are great!
I got a bottle of 90 at the vet (which I no longer use) for $70. Went to entirelypets and got a tub of 180 for less than $35!

My dog prefer Ol'Roy's version of Kibbles and Bits called Kibbles and Chunks. I also used to give them deer bones and scraps until the older dog's teeth wore out on her. Then she couldn't chew the bones well enough and got bowel obstructions. She was totally miserable! Well, I can't give the young one bones if she can't have em', so he's out of luck also.

The cat, sad to say, has the taste of a hillbilly. Well, he did come from a very inbred family as I understand it. I tried to buy him good catfood but found he prefers the cheap stuff....Dollar General brand only! True WV!

I tried Pedigree for the dogs once but they got fatter and were quite hyper, maybe too much protein for their work level? The Ol'Roy keeps them trim and pretty. They absolutely hated Beneful....wouldn't touch it.

I have a large orchard and the dogs eat alot of apples in season. The youngest one especially. He gets wound tighter than an eight day clock on apples and poos barn red! I think the apples ferment and act like white lightning for that pup. Always glad when there are no more apples on the ground and he settles down. He will eat any vegetable or fruit I throw out, even grapefruit!

Thanks for that suggestion...could be useful. My black dane show girl is THE pickiest eater EVER. People at shows litterally walk up & say 'they need to feed you baby' and I am like OMG! She' fed well...and expensively (I may add.) I was at the point where she was getting 3 eggs, bacon, parmesan cheese, cool whip, kibble, and pedigree canned all in a day just to try & add weight & now I am on the tough-love approach w/eat it in 15 mins or it's outta there. It's working now after a week I am proud to say

But, while we are out of town showing, I *might* need something to encourage her to eat.

Have you tried making her Satin Balls?
REALLY helped my AB who looks starved half the time!

ETA:
SATIN BALLS
10 pounds hamburger meat [the cheapest kind]
1 lg. box of Total cereal
1 lg. box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs AND shells
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.

Divide into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze.

Thaw as needed and feed raw!

Yep, she'd eat them the first day maybe & quit. Right now, I am at the point where I am going to stick with this (as I KNOW she is healthy...she is just active and refined..it's who she is) and if I can't get the weight on her, I may have to breed her to help fill her out & then try again to finish her Championship. That's what everyone keeps telling me to do as it will add some weight to her and make her chest drop more, etc. We'll see.
Oh, btw, I feed Taste of the Wild to my older 5 (high in protein/fat) and my new show girl eats Purina Pro Plan (per the breeder.) I REALLY am happy w/the Taste of the Wild...great food, IMO. It's comparible to the Solid GOld I LOVE soo much, but a little easier on the pocket book.

So how much does everyone pay per bag on the dry they feed? A few brands mentioned I haven't heard of.
Mine is $42 before taxes for a 35lb bag.
