What do your neighbors think about your chickens?

Our neighborhood is acre size lots. The two neighbors to the side think they are kind of interesting and don't complain. The original neighbor behind us hated them and was always threatening us. Luckly they lost the place and the new people think they are cool.I don't let them freerange because we have no fences in the neighborhood and one neighbor has two Taco dogs that like to chase them. They all have their own little vices so I figure if I put up with theirs they will just have to put up with mine. I am also the only one in the neighborhood that has a garden and flowers. We kind of stand out but I like my little "farm"!

I would tell the dog neighbor," Send your dog over I look forward to shooting him." Kidding ofcourse, but I would catch him and take him to the pound.Sorry you had to hear the *weird* comment from the other. I try not to listen when it is obvious my neighbors are chatting about me( they point). It has been like that since I had my property surveyed and fenced. To my face everyone is nice and polite, but who knows what they REALLY think.

I just go about doing my yard stuff with all my animals and to heck with what others think.Life is way to short.Everyone had their quirks including those neighbors. Enjoy your chickens.

I'm very jealous! I don't mind a neighbor here and there, but to live somewhere where I'm surrounded by acres and acres of land is a dream! I'm pretty sure the kids wouldn't like it though.lol

The one thing I love about living in a city and the 'burbs, is having local authorities to take authority when necessary. I'm one small woman, with kids. I never feel up to fighting for my rights, though sometimes it is necessary. Thank goodness there are people who's job it is to help. These people are good at it, they are professionally trained and they do it every day, with pride. AND there's lots of them available if we ever need to call! I like having support. If ignoring rude neighbors doesn't work, if they go too far and threaten us, I call our city law enforcement for help. They're very good at it. I hope you have good ones where you live.

I have visitors every day who are kind and enjoy visiting our chickens. I also have some unkind assaultive neighbors. It takes all kinds to make a world full of people

Same goes for TN. Our local ACO says I can shoot the dog that attacks my chickens... then he will come to our house, call the owners of the dog, and tell them to come pick up their dead animal!

6chickens in St. Charles :

That neighbor who stated she'll send her dog to eat your chickens, has legally committed assault. You could press charges. Or, at least, file a police report. If you are within your rights to keep your chickens in your property, you are within your rights to do so without threats from others. Its always best to have a report, signed and dated, just in case they continue threatening your family or escalate their assaults into some form of vandalism (or worse).

BTW, God Bless YOU for keeping chickens with all you've been through. You're a hero for ejoying life anyway.

She has? Then report the neighbor. Do it, because if she does let her dogs eat your chickens.... Bad things.... Bad things....

Neighbors? Don't know and don't really care. Closest neighbor is probably 1/4 mile. We have lived here pretty far out for about 3 years now and one complaint long ago about the dogs barking but I did not care really about that either that is one of the reasons we bought our own land so far out. Also they don't want to get me started about all the large dogs running loose out here and on my property.

We have a neighbor about 200 yards away and he gave us his chickens to add to our flock.

Our turkeys and goats are a lot more annoying than the chickens. Our kids are a lot noisier too.
