Well, I guess it's just that I, a very low-energy person with chronic aches and pains, wouldn't be able to deal with the energy of a GSP or the grooming and size of a Newfy.

Ahhhh okay that makes sense and is totally understandable!!!!!! Newfies do need A LOT of grooming LOL didn’t think about that. But they’re chill and adorable. I am quite low energy myself, especially lately, but I usually adapt myself to the animals needs rather than them adapting to me LOL so like when Brew was wild and crazy, I did tons with him, and now that he’s chill, we just go on a couple walks LOL I did that when I was pet sitting too. I would WAY over do it and wear myself out hahahaha not great but yeah. I totally get not wanting or being able to do that though LOL and I DO think a lower energy breed or mix might be a better match for us… BUT!!!!!!!! Brew also LOVES to play still especially with other dogs even though he’s lazy otherwise so I kind of feel like a higher energy dog would be a better match cause he can play forever. Or used to be able to. Maybe medium energy nowadays. but that’s IF I got one while I still had him which isn’t likely so if I didn’t have him to help wear them out, I’d go lower energy LOL

Still want a poodle

I honestly LOVE poodles and want a standard someday but do NOT love the idea of so much grooming LOL I also definitely do NOT have the money to pay a professional groomer every month or two and have zero desire to learn how to do it myself and save the money hahahaha too much work!!!!!!! Plus I’d probably chop an ear off by accident.

I’m funny because I will literally hike for hours or provide endless training and mental stimulation, etc. if that’s what the dog needs but yet I draw the line at excessive grooming needs.

Had a standard poodle at work yesterday, the grooming actually wasn't hard...it just took forever to dry. But she gets groomed pretty regularly
