What Dog Breed Do You Want Today!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It takes time. Tucker took 3 weeks to come to. We brought him home at 10 weeks. Dont force anything. And i wouldnt free feed i know many who do but puppies will over eat.

He is scared after being took away from everything he ever knew.

If you need him to come out offer some play to try and get him out, some chase or sitting on the ground gently saying puppy, puppy, puppy.
To add for us it was 3 weeks to be more ok with just the family and house. 3 more weeks to be super comfortable and at 9 months right before the first charge was when he was the best, which was so unfortunate

We aren't free feeding, no worries. He's got set amounts for each meal. I did a Lot of research on large breed puppy feeding. I handfed him this evening, too, so now he likes me, lol. I told my husband that he should give Jäger a meal tomorrow.
He's not too interested in coming over for much of anything, and I'm not going to pull him out of there of course. Guess I'll just live with it if he's up too much in the middle of the night. He's not a loud whiner, so I don't know if it'll wake me up if he has to pee.
He did go outside by the way! He was a gentleman on the leash and actually kept sitting and looking at me when he didn't know what to do. I'm going to take him out once more right before bed in about an hour since he has only peed. Hopefully he'll go no. 2 and will be good for most of the night.
This is the crate space setup. He has plenty of room to lie down. IMG_20250222_190051887.jpg

Ok, i just thought when ylu said take away food for the night you were free feeding. Thats how Tucker came to us it was hard to break. Ive never had luck with free feeding, my grandparents free feed their small dogs but they are old and never eat a full meal.
Im glad he is doing well though!

So I put him in the crate to get him used to it for a little while so bedtime won't be too hard. He loves it. He won't come out. Bedtime isn't for 1.5hrs and I'm afraid he'll sleep to it and be restless all night. 😂 I can't get him to come play with me, and I've cut off food for the evening. He is way too content, it's so funny.
That's great!! that is so much better than scared of the crate and throwing a fit when you put him in

Yes imagine weeks of whiny puppy in a crate because she hates it. Denver kept me up all night for a week she hated her crate then still needed to go out 3 times at night.
Having a dog that loves the crate is amazing. Tucker didnt wake me up once the first night

I handfed the set amount of food, but it took over an hour since he had to warm up to me, so it felt like cutting off. 😂 Either way, not allowing food within 3-4 hours of bedtime so that he can hopefully have mostly empty bowels.

Yes! My first dog was like that, absolutely hated it. :'( She never made friends with the crate.

Took him out at 12 and 6am. No messes in the crate, he finally went no. 2 this morning. He seems to have a decent sense of cleanliness, lol.
He's started humping some things (including me) during playtime which isn't so surprising since he's still anxious about the move and I had him all excited. I just distracted him with his moose toy and put him in the crate to settle. He is very much still just a baby and whines about all sorts of things, and the one I can't figure out is him whining while we're playing with the tug toy. Whether he is lying down next to me chewing on it, or if we're playing tug, he whines. Not sure why, maybe an anxiety or boredom thing, wanting to do something else.
Which yes, we did get him to come play before bed, and he pretty much slept through from 9pm to 6am save the midnight potty break! He likes running in circles around us chasing the tug toy. If we stop and he still wants to play, he picks it up and walks himself in circles around us. It's pretty cute. His feet are huge and just *thud* on every step. 😆
