What Dog Breed Do You Want Today!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I had a toy rattie that was a rescue. We got him when he was 9 months old. He was the best dog ever. I was always more of a cat person but that dog changed my mind. Yes he would bark whenever he heard something out of the norm. He was such a smart dog.
Beautiful!!!!!!!!

Tell me about rat terriers, please.

A neighbor always had one and generally they were obnoxious little bung holes, but they could have took on their owners personality. The Decker stain is what is generally talked up in hunting circles.

The one dog I lost recently was an Airedale/Healer and was a good dog. I like the look of the Patterdales but they are extremely intense, Jack Russels are energetic little rascals.
I love the idea of the Deckers too. And Jack Russels LOL

I've only had miniature, and both were crossed with another breed. The standard and decker are more hunt orientated, but the miniature can hold its own and is a great ratter. Rat terriers are playful, but less intense than other terriers. They have an off switch. They are very devoted to their people, and enjoy snuggling, and sleeping with their owners. Many other terrier breeds can be aloof.

They are a hardy long lived breed as they haven't been standardized for very long, and had an open registry up until 2018. Any dog that fit the description and standard could be registered as a rat terrier. Since the AKC let them in there has been some changes made that personally I don't like. Used to be a type A and type B, but now it's rat terrier and the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. The Teddy is supposed to the the type B, but they are bigger boned and to me look more like jack russels. Thankfully some still stick to the original breeding and form of the rat terrier as an all around good farm dog, and pet.

They sound amazing

I would love another rattie. Another bonus, they don't have long hair so grooming is easy peasy. The husky, Pomeranian and papillon...ugh, not so easy. My papillon loves her bath and blow dry. I can't even skip the blow dry during the summer or she gets mad at me.
Lmaoooo that’s adorable!!!!!!!!!!
