What Gender are my Muscovy Ducks??

My Muscovy drake even though he has 4 girls hasn’t ever been abusive to them no feathers missing on their necks. I think right now I’d just wait and enjoy them when things become sexual you’ll know it. Then what will you do if he did get too abusive? Duck sex is very rough to begin with. Many times I see my Muscovy drake flatten out one of his females and just stand on her. I don’t see the point to this but evidently they do and they adore their drake. One nice things about scovy’s is if you live mid south and above they actually have a breeding season which means they breed spring through mid fall then they molt stop laying and stop breeding. Till following spring.

Great advice, thank you! We live in Hawaii so we'll see how that goes. But will for sure enjoy them in this age now and worry about all of that later! :)

Hey all, it turns out we for sure have 1 boy and 1 girl and the drake has started to try mating with our girl. I caught him chasing her this morning and grabbing her by her wings. I don't mind them mating, I just dont want her to get hurt as we only have 1 girl. Wondering if anyone has tips / successfully kept only 1 girl and 1 boy?

No way around it duck sex is rough and your female may suffer over breeding. You’ll have to determine that by watching to make sure she doesn’t get her feather plucked out of her neck and then her skin starts getting chewed up. This is where the drake will grab to hold on plus head. If things start getting out of hand then separating or getting a few more females might be something to consider.
