What have I done!? Meyer's just called - END OF STORY ON PAGE 11

Ha that was actually exactly the point of my post! LOL. These chickens better live to be 20 years old because I am not doing the mail order thing again. Too much worries being responsible for a live shipment.

I've stopped freaking out though. I am doing what I can to retrieve them. Everything else is out of my control now. They will either be there tomorrow - or they won't. And I will do my best to pamper them and keep them alive and that's all I can do right now.

I'll let you know what happens

Thanks for all the support! Much appreciated.

I know we are all eager to hear they arrived safely. I bet they will be happily chirping their little heads off in the morning!!!!

It really is stressful but sometimes that is the only way to get the chicks you want....and far more make it just fine than don't.

Hope you have your camera ready!!!!!!

You're right.
It didn't even leave Ohio until the 24th (yesterday):
Your item was processed and left our CLEVELAND, OH 44181 facility on February 24, 2009. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

*pat pat pat* They don't just pick the fastest route when it's live animals, they try to get them on the safest vehicle too when they see that 'live animal' sticker, and hear the peeping. Those chicks are fine for at least 3 days. They've got all that egg yolk to digest and Meyers really packs em up right.

I called a friend (neighbor in a countrywise fashion) who is both a postal worker and a chicken keeper and she was laughing at the whole thing, (not unkindly) she said you should "Simmer down!" heheh!

The post office will definitly know they have chicks..
When they brought mine I could hear the cheeping even before I got to her truck
wink.png

And when I opened the box! OMG!! They were so loud! It seemed like the cheeping was coming from more than just the box..
Ultrasonic cheeping!!! It filled my ears, it filled my head..
They settled down after I got them in their new home and they had a chance to drink, then eat
smile.png

Oh yea..You do remember to dip their beaks in the water as you take them out of the box, right?

I usually put a bit of mollassas in the water, I hear the sugar gives them a bit of an extra boost
wink.png

Just enough so it looks like a light colored iced tea

Let us know when they arrive, I'm probably not the only one on "pins n needles" waiting

Guess what!!!!!

It's noon the second day and
....

they're still not here.

Interestingly the tracking info seems to show that while the package was labeled on Monday the post office didn't get it until almost 4pm on Tuesday...

Oh well. I was sort of hoping that the 'safest' way would include an airplane...
wink.png

However customer rep said that 4pm was cut off for overnight for that post office and so they made it before cut off time and should have been here before noon today...

LOL. I know. Four hour round trip to fellow BYCer sounds terrific now! Who know maybe I could have even paid some high school kid to do the 4 hour round trip for me and pick up my chicks from the BYC person in Victoria for what I paid for overnight-express!
lol.png

we took a really long drive with all of the kids to pick up our goats and rabbits..now that was different!
lol.png
the goats were far better behaved i think.

Actually the customer service rep at the post office has actually been super nice. She's alerted the Express Mail Receiving guy at the airport and the loading dock guys at the post office.
Even if the package shipped Tuesday instead of Monday it should have arrived this morning.
Unfortunately though the package did not arrive and also didn't get scanned anywhere so right now they don't know where it is or why it didn't make it to San Antonio.
