What have you repurposed while building ?

Pics
Maybe scare rooster straight but my hens apparently aren’t afraid of a grill View attachment 1474741 That was their reuse idea... not mine

OMG That's the BEST picture! It needs to be put into a cation contest ... I can only cringe ... and giggle ... when I think of the responses that one will bring out!

I thought this would be an interesting thread for everybody could share what they have repurposed While building a coop and run or just anything for their chickens. Great way to gather and share ideas for less waste in the world, way to save money and a way to get the imagination flowing. I am huge on re-purposing anything. I’ll see something just sitting on the side of the road or at a job site in my imagination goes wild. I’m bringing home stuff all the time. I’ve been called a scavenger once or twice:oops:.
So share what you have reused or re-purposed. Added pictures are great but if you’re anything like me you have a hard time loading them
I had a couple livestock panels left over from my goat days. They make great hoop coops.
I have several weatherproof dog boxes from when I bred & raised bird dogs. One of them is in use as a coop for a couple birds in my tractor. Also have an old airline crate that just barely fits under the coop in one run.
I had one of those portable garages, similar to a quonset hut & covered with a heavy-duty tarp, silver to reflect the sun's rays. When the wind tore it up, I saved all of the tarp that I thought maybe I'd have a use for later on. One piece covers my chipper/shredder in the barn, another covers one of the two chicken runs, over the welded wire fencing I tore out; has for 3-4 years now.
That run is 4'x16', made entirely out of re-purposed kennel panels.
Since I can get shipping pallets free for the hauling, I use some of them to keep my firewood up off the ground, and some to break down to make coops with.

Found an egg in there once. Lol. My friend said I’m lucky. I get breakfast and dinner with no effort!!! Chickens are awesome
No effort. Right. If your friend ever starts rambling on about your getting "free eggs," throw one at him/her. You can even tell 'em it's from ME! :smack

I love the pattern you ended up with.

Thanks the pattern just sort of happened.

You sure that pop door's sturdy enough?:)

I think so, it’s framed with 2x4s and has the 3/4” cedar boards on both sides.....the wifey wanted to see the cedar weather it was open or closed. It’s pretty heavy too, wouldn’t want that thing coming down on a lady :fl
