If she wants to wait for back up. .
Maybe the op could for sure keep up with daily Epsom salt baths and iodine etc. . and have some good progress made in that regard of getting it softened up and ready to be dug out?

Not a wrench at all... if she can take her to the vet, that would be best... might have to wait for appt though too... and I can say, working on a job that extensive alone (or with help that is not exactly reliable) can take a long time to do...

Considering that has obviously been there for a while, I doubt a few days would make a huge difference... but obviously, the quicker it's done the better...

I just read through this thread. Great work finding that horror and getting at it! And wow you guys are amazing people to be so willing to go help. I'm jealous and want in! Please keep us updated!

*disclaimer I've never treated bumblefoot nor other hard puss things on a bird.

But I'm interested in watching the progress and healing. Also in the mechanics of removing the gunk. The plugs in these things are like icebergs, much more underneath that can't be softened except over days of soaking.

To that end I had a thought.

Once the initial plug has been pulled off I'm looking at this hole thinking lavage. It looks like there'd be room to get a... something in there. IV bag of saline with slow gravity flow gently ran into these things could potentially sort of push it out. No idea if small enough tube could be found to do so. What about the plastic vein catheter itself. Couldn't this really speed removing such things?

Of course concerns about the position in this instance could interfere in my idea.
