What is Your Favorite Christmas Dish? (PARTY!)

Pics
I made 'ugly sweater' Christmas cookies for the BYC decorated baked goods contest and challenged others to make uglier ones. No one took me up on it. Maybe here? Anyone interested? Or show us your real ugly sweaters! Or how about ugly Christmas cards?

Those are adorable!

I do! Christmas sugar cookies are in my schedule for today. I have a new cookie cutter, it's a sweater so I'm making ugly Christmas cookies! Since I'm a lousy decorator, I figure I can handle 'ugly'

@SueT gave me the idea :D
be sure to show us!!!!! Can't wait!

That is so unique. The first Lego village I've ever seen! Wonderful tradition you've created there and imagine will bring great joy to all for many years to come. Making memories which, for me, life is all about!

Actually it's not all that unique. Lego comes out with a new building for each Christmas season and lots of people put up these Winter Villages. If you google "Lego Winter Village" you could see some really elaborate ones.

In the future I hope to get some terrain built into it. But I'm glad we started when I could still get my hands on the early buildings (which now go for around $500 each!!!) and that we have it to look forward to.

Also, what are some of your fav movies songs etc.

I have a whole yule playlist for the season. It's mostly got wassailing songs since those are largely unchanged from their origins. Sugar Wassail, Boars Head wassail, gower wassail are all nice. It's got a few clever additions like Ring out Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull. Almost anything with references to holly and ivy come from old pagan carols so I have, (surprise) The Holly and the Ivy and Nay Ivy Nay and Deck the Halls. We have a lot of orchestral versions of songs and a few personal favorites (like the BNL version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen).
The guest-favorite is a sassy tune called "Santa Claus is Pagan Too". Even the harder Christians in my group get a kick out of it. (But they're very good natured and educated on the season beyond their creed.)
This year we added 'All is Found' from Frozen 2. When most of your songs have been appropriated into another culture and the originals forgotten you just kinds shrug and use whatever you like that feels appropriate. I like this addition a lot. I also found a whole bunch of Celtic instrumentals of some less denominational tunes too and added those this year. They're really nice.

Probably my favorite addition just for musicality is This Endris Night. I just like the sound of this one a LOT.

My favorite movie is a short story compilation called "A Christmas Horror Story". It's deeply dark and funny B movie horror until the last one which hits surprisingly hard at the very end. It's mostly like some Army of Darkness level Christmas themed horror stories and it's really good fun if you don't take the season too seriously.

On the lighter end it's tradition here to watch the Macys parade, then the dog show, then the original Miracle on 34th street every thanksgiving to kick off the season and I'm very fond of that film. The one that used to come after it on public TV every year - A Wonderful Life - I hated though. Still do.
