My dog Timber came with the name Ringo. He spent about a day and a half with the stand-in ‘Sausage’ until Timber was settled on.

I’ve been teaching my barn cat some tricks and now whenever he wants some attention he’ll just do ‘spin’ until I’m afraid he’s going to make himself dizzy

Like the (very long) title says, I’m curious to know if anyone has a pet that originally was going to be called something different from their current name. Maybe they came with a name and you hated it or maybe you just couldn’t decide on a name and it took a bit to choose, etc. I’m curious about this. So post yours! I’ll start.

My dog, Brewster, came with his name and it ended up growing on me so I kept it. BUT!!!! I thought about naming him Finnegan (Finn for short) or something like that. I can’t imagine calling him that now

when I first got my German Shepard mix, her name was Sugar. when she ran off as soon as we got home, and then lived in the woods for three days...................... we eventually lured her into the house with a hotdog on a string.
her name is Bolt.


on another note, not a pet, but my mom had only planned on having 3 children. she was thinking about having another, but hadn't really decided on anything, when she found out she was pregnant again. she told me and my siblings that if it was a boy, my older brother and younger brother could decide on a name, and if it were a girl, I could.
it was a girl.
I was twelve, and had just watched the original Beetlejuice.
my sister's name is Lydia, but everyone calls her "shark" or "sharkie", because when she was a toddler, she liked listening to Baby Shark as she chased people around and bit them.
