Hi everyone. This is my once in a lifetime dog Delilah. She passed this year on February 19, at the age of 17.

I found her in March 2012, six months after my Choc Labrador, Winston, passed on 9/11/2011. I spotted her across from a cow pasture all dirty in the grass. I pulled over, clapped my hands and she ran to me and jumped into the backseat Yukon.

Five days later I had her wanded for a chip. She "beeped". I cried my eyes out because I loved her and knew the right thing to do was return her to her family.

A day and a half later I heard barking at my front door ...I dropped the laundry and ran to the front door. There was Delilah sitting muddy feet and all, on my welcome mat wagging her tail and she brought her dog companion, a Husky, Nina (also muddy), with her! They had to have come almost 3 miles. I cleaned them up and kept them all that day! I returned them both that evening but asked if I could keep either one since they were running. The owner signed Delilah over to me but kept Nina. It was like I'd won the lottery. ❤️

Delilah WOULD NEVER FETCH OR PLAY WITH TOYS 😂. Funny for an Aussie!! But she was gentle and kind, sweet with dogs, cats, goats, all the birds, the grandchildren and everyone she met was a friend. She loved car rides, going to the park and getting on the UPS or FedEx truck to greet the drivers and get a treat!!!! She went to many 5K running events with me and won a few "Best Dressed" contests at some of our outings. This is my first holiday season without her. I miss her terribly.

I adopted another fur family member, at 6 weeks old, in the summer of 2020 since I was working at home. She and Delilah got along great. Her name is Persephone. She is 4-1/2 years old now and has adjusted well to Delilah being gone. I will introduce her in another post ❤️

Beautiful story and beautiful dog. You were meant for each other. So sorry for your loss.

This is the magnificent Miss Persephone 💕. She is a Catahoula Leopard dog mix. I adopted her in July 2020 at 5/6 weeks. She and her two siblings had been abandoned in Gilmer County. My daughter works at the Humane Society (I volunteer there a lot and love it!!) in Forsyth County. It is a "no-kill" facility. When they transferred the puppies in, I knew Persephone was my family. She is 4-1/2 years now and about 31 pounds. Doesn't much care to leave the property. Loves all her squeak toys and fetching. Wonderful with all animals and grandkids, but needs to warm up to strangers. She sleeps our bed. Her nickname is "Baloney" lol! I'm very thankful for this little lady ❤️
