i have 10 chickens, 7 isa browns, 2 pekin bantams and welsummer rooster. I am wanting to grow and harvest a larvae for them to eat for extra protein. I have heard meal worms are good and black soldier fly larvae. But where would I purchase them, and how do I look after them etc. thanks for all the help.

Bonnie, your best bet is to do a web search on both types of larvae. That will help you to make an informed decision. BSFL would not do well in climates where the ground freezes during the winter. Meal worms may need to be cultured inside depending on your climate. I have found meal worms to be smelly and not worth the bother. But, other folks do well with them. It's all a matter of preference.
