Nobody said not to breed them and nobody said leave it to the experts.......

just do it and have fun with it, there are enough positive people on here to give you support, don't pay any attention to the people who are negative, you could be a mad chicken scientist and not even know it yet

I wouldn't call some of us negative....more realistic that the OP doesn't have a clue how much work what he wants to do really is. You can't just breed two chickens of different breeds together and call the resulting chicks a new breed. And to try and do it where he can't even keep roos is pretty unrealistic. He's going to have to hatch and grow out hundreds of chicks for many years to get to where he can call the result a new breed. Since I'm assuming his folks will have to be footing the feed bill for quite some time, they might not be too enthused about his project.

I think you've made a wise decision.

I agree it takes years to even get good at breeding birds that have a standard already let alone make one yourself. For some reason I get the idea your young I am to and I have learned a lot about chickens just from listening to people like bigmedicine NYREDS and Katy.

Obviously you do not realize what constitutes a new "breed" or what time frame and effort is reqired to develop useful and meaningful breed.

But I wish you luck and propose to name your new "breed" Random Specled Express from Fantasy Land.

LOL

some people on this forum should be ashamed of themselves this person was wide eyed with excitement and dreams and you took that away, it don't matter if he actually succeeded it wasn't like was taking your birds or forcing you to buy them. I am appalled at some peoples behavior and I am glad I don't see your face looking back at me in the mirror
