What treat did your chickies get today?

Ha ha ha ha@Stephanie R, not that bad they're actually out and about in their run @ that temp Except the water is frozen out there. I do have another waterer in their coop (temp 28*) that I replace couple of times so they have drinks all the time. I've checked them few times today the only time they go in is to drink, eat and lay eggs which I worried sometimes that will freeze if not collected right away.

I must have the wussiest chickens alive. They don't really mind cold weather (and when I say cold I don't mean 7 degrees ... maybe 37), but they run, flap, and screech back to the coop as fast as they can when it rains or is windy, as it is very frequently here in the winter. Sometimes they huddle in the igloo dog house I have set up in the run. My hubs says it's their winter chalet.

Finally climbed back up to 27*F today, was cold last night around 11*F with wind chill in the -

This morning, cracked corn and boss.
Around lunch I made mixture of their crumbles, oatmeal, smidge cream of wheat, boss & corn - not too wet, just moist and crumbly like. I let it cool a bit, gave it to them and they loved it.
Mine usually like wet food anyway.

Today, despite having0 some good/fresh food, I found quite a few inside the outside toilette cottage. Well, someone left the door open and as we store there their complete bought food bags (25 kg mix, with guarantee no GMO and hopefully zero Roundup crap) and there is usually a little on the floor, I was not curious.

But then on a closer look: The ladies had picked on a fresh bag, thus opened a hole and luckily picked from the stream that ran out!

Crazy, didn't thought they'd be that intelligent?

Stand off at treat time. Who will back away from the scratch and sunflower seed first?
