Today like almost every other day the chickens as always loved the fresh basil from the garden!

My little Bantam mix (or possibly Japanese) named Roopert got his first taste of a blueberry today, and for a moment I thought I had broken the rooster. He started clucking and tidbitting so much it sounded like he was short circuiting.
As for the other chickens, the other day they discovered our garden, and Stripped one of my dad's brussels sprouts plants! Needless to say Dad wasn't happy!!

Today they got to try a tomato for the first time. I didn't help them get to the meaty part so it took a bit of pecking and deciding it was nothing and coming back to it before they first got through the skin. Then I threw it into the suet cage (aka snack time) and they went wild for it.

A couple of field mice that didn't manage to get to cover in time when I left the girls out for their morning rampage through the pasture.

Today the flock got leftovers from yesterday's 4th of July dinner, brown rice, scrambled eggs, biscuit bits, corn on the cob, and small bits of my 1yr olds bday cake

My dog also got some leftover sausage, bacon, a piece of grilled steak, and some other leftovers.

My critters are always eating leftovers, even my cats and rabbit eat my stuff. We rarely have an issue with trash around here.
