What treat did your chickies get today?

Yesterday the girls got oatmeal with cranberries (I added in a bit of Omega 3, brewers yeast, garlic powder, oregano, and probiotics and a smidge of woodpecker suet) ... it was cold here in the morning.

In the afternoon I gave them a suet feeder filled with part of an apple, some cabbage, a few grapes, and part of a cucumber; right after they free ranged for about an hour.

Last night before bed they got a handful of mealworms, cracked corn, and sunflower seeds to keep them toasty.

wow thats crazy! I heard avocado is toxic to birds! in fact a friend of mine lost her 3 cockatiels giving them a half. ..must just be tropical bird thing or maybe in smaller quantity?? anyway good to know your girls loved it and are ok!
...I'm new to having chickens but I gave my girls some cooked macaroni today and they loved it!! they ate it all up before they touched their usual scratch and veggie cuttings! lol

Pre Thanksgiving refrigerator clean out, the girls thought Thanksgiving just got here early! This morning they got their usual salad bowl which was the lettuce, tomato and egg shell scraps from the previous day. Then this afternoon they got leftover rice and gravy, coleslaw, spaghetti sauce with mushrooms, and more eggshell and boiled egg scraps.I made a huge batch of deviled eggs for the Thanksgiving crowd and a few eggs just refused to peel, so I squished them up in the chicken scrap bowl. And after dinner I built my fruit salad so in the morning they'll get the fruit scrap bowl, guaranteed to start a fight!

My girls just got all the veggie waste I bring home from work. They got grapes, cantaloupe, honeydew, romaine, cucumbers, cooked rice, shredded carrots and some scrambled eggs. It's always fun to watch them dig around looking for the grapes which is one of there favorites.

Breakfast was lettuce, tomato and hamburger mince [ground beef].

For lunch they got their usual weekend treat of watermelon and seen as we were having fruit salad for lunch, I tried them on rock melon [again]; even broke off tiny little bite sized pieces but the reaction was as expected ....
