I tried to post an auction,and it said my limit is 5 ,i am plat member...........the rules for the auctions still reflect unlimited..........confused is this just with me?Help please

I was pretty shook up all day. Simply, if i can't feed my chickens I will have to sell them. All the work i put into building coops and runs and raising birds will be wasted. I have over 20 breeds of chickens, so 4-5 auctions is not going to work. I know it is not BYC's responsiblity to sell my eggs, and they made the decisions they felt was best for the site. Today i went on Ebay. I typed up a whole auction then lost it. I went on several other sites with no better results. As a last ditch effort I will put another ad on Craigslist, i have sold some hatching eggs on there. Tomorrow is the sale at Scotts Hill, taking the spare roosters to try and cut the feed bills. I use more than 50 lbs of feed every day. I can adapt to all the changes on BYC except the loss of the auctions. My job is chicken farmer, so unless the farm makes money, the critters don't eat. I am SO depressed

Before you all throw up your hands in despair and run away elsewhere (which is just another change), why don't you give BYC a few days to get 100,000 peoples problems and a totally new software/setup a chance to get lined out?

TAKE some deep breaths and relax. Life will go on and this will get worked out. Everything in life does change and we can usually find a way around, over, under or thru most obstacles.

There is a buy/sell/auction section and people are buying and selling. List your eggs and try selling on there. Use a set price or set it up an auction. People won't buy IF you don't list them. Also if lots of sellers leave, YOU will have LESS competition. Get the product out there.

If you have a specific problem listing, there is a thread to post specific problems ( not gripes) and get help as they get to you.

I think that the auction # limits is a work in progress, they are still making some decisions about this. I DO understand this is a big deal about which many of us are concerned/affected.

Proxy bidding was a big thing to give up yes. But we did not give up auctions. Those who want to do auctions just have to do them "old style" for now. I'm sorry but we can't snap our fingers and make it happen right away on this platform. Would we like to bring proxy bid auctions back? Yes, of course.

There are already auctions going in the BST right now, why don't you go check them out.

Dmccann.... You can list multiple totes on 1 listing... Sort of like your swap page. Label the totes by # and ask the buyers to send you a PM with the item # they want. Make a separate listing for your other products.
You have the ability to change or edit the listing anytime, also close it & re open it. It really does not sound so bad to me. As a temporary fix.

Good suggestions Beth and thanks for the link to that thread on # of auctions.

BTW, ebay became so unfriendly to sellers with changes a couple of years ago that I quit selling there after 5 years. They kept taking more of my money and giving buyers a lot more benefits than the small time seller.

I also would NOT buy eggs off ebay.

UGh..i posted on a thread..ill probably have tons of people up my butt in a few minutes ripping me a new one. As much as I HATE the way we have to do auctions now. Im biting the bullet and being patient..Im not going anywhere to auction my eggs off...Luckily I dont have a full working farm..Chickens and my breeds are my hobby..I feel for everyone who relies on selling eggs to survive for their farms...but its time for survival mode and we have to make the best of it ...right guys? I might be selling off a few breeds just to make the food bill lighter..Will it suck..yup BUT it is what it is ....
