October

late Old English, from Latin October (mensis), from octo "eight," from PIE root *octo(u)- "eight" (see eight). The eighth month of the old Roman calendar (pre-46 B.C.E.), which began the year in March. For -ber see December. Replaced Old English winterfylleð.

In Russian history, the October Revolution (in which the Bolsheviks overthrew the Provisional Government) happened Nov. 7, 1917, but because Russia had not at that time adopted the Gregorian calendar reform, this date was reckoned there (Old Style) as Oct. 25.

Today it was a high of 29C. While not unheard of, it is very unusual. In fact this past week it’s been above seasonal and it’s been very dry.

It’s still 21C (69F) which is very mild for nighttime temps this time for year, esp when the sky is clear.

Some fun backyard obs taken by my father and I years ago, saw the temp is nearly always warmer during the Full Moon period, with o'nite temps being much cooler. Even during winter we can get some pretty warm days during the full moon period. We are also hitting 29C today and for the next few days. On Tuesday - Full Moon - the nite temp will drop to 13C, compared to the other nites. I'm sure our ancestors studies all this .. before tv came along.
