Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

some times they are very hard to hatch i usually go 45 percent humidity till lock down than 62 percent and yes wheaten marans are hard for some reason . i think its mostly fertility of roos .. just rest the eggs for a day whan you get them . id sudgest not candeling them every two seconds but thats just me... there is a dry hatch method but iv never tried it..

I took your Advice Randy and had an amazing hatch.

Bargain shipped me 12 eggs, I dropped one so just had 11 to set. 10 out of the 11 hatched. Not bad for shipped eggs!! They turned 2 weeks old this morning. Now, If I understand this thread, the ones with darker wings are cockerels?? If that is the case I think 4 or maybe 5 of them are boys. It was impossible to get good pics with everyones head showing... The 1 out of place black chick is my 4 year old Granddaughters "lucky egg". She collects the eggs, inspects and talks to each one then picks a lucky to add every time I set eggs.

So this would be boy and girl?? You can see Lucky poking her black head up in the background.

wonderful news on your hatch bargain must have some very good roosters yes it looks like you have a hen and a rooster in that picture. it seems to me that the hens feather and quicker than the roosters
