So I have three 5 month old silkies. They are doing nothing! When can I expect the male to start taking interest in the 2 hens, who are not laying yet!

Thanks!

They are painted silkies, if that makes a difference.:)

Silkies are a slow growing breed, hen typically start to lay around 8 months, I'm assuming roosters would take a little shorter amount of time to get interested in hens.

A rooster may not be interested in the pullets until they are laying. I've seen roosters try to breed non-laying hens before, but in general they won't be very successful (and therefore not interested) until the females are laying.

Well, the roaster is 5 and a half months old, he is with 4 hens total, 2 of the hens are 7 months old and laying, the other 2 hens are 5 months old and not laying. He has no interest in any of them! So the big question is, when can I expect him to wakeup? He is not crowing at all, if that info is helpful at all.
