Hey! We can form a little BCM minus the copper club! Here is our girl:

Wow beautiful eggs !!!!
Great colors !!!
You so your marans laid at about 7 months so mine needs 2 more months !! Well we'll have to wait and see !!
Thank you! I know some people whose Marans laid at 6 months and others at 8. Good luck trying to be patient ;)

Egg production statistics

She doesn't have the darkest possible eggs, but they're pretty nice.

Here's a pic taken a week ago, both the Wilma the BCM and Emma the SS laid weird eggs that day (on the right). The color looks a lot lighter in pictures than it does with the naked eye, though.
Pretty! Nice contrast. I was worried our Marans eggs wouldn't be much darker than our sex-link's since she's a hatchery chick but I'm very pleased. I would like a SS one day, my husband likes the idea of a Sussex but doesn't like the speckles.

The SS are pretty (after they finally developed proper feathering, took ages). They're supposedly very gentle and friendly, but I haven't seen any of that. Our's are little turds towards the others in the flock, and the only reason they're not hostile towards people, is that they're just so skittish. They're also very clumsy. Not a breed I'd add more of to my flock, at least not from the lines we've got in Finland, and come spring these two might be going to freezer camp too. But the pullet lays pretty decent sized eggs.

Wow great work !!! I wasnt able to see the page but i used safari to open it Your statics provide interesting info !!! The SS eggs look bigger than the BCM is that right ?? Can you tell me whats the size of the BCM egg?? I read in a website they lay from large to extra large is that true ?? Can you take pics ??

The stats show the weight of each of them, and how they've developed. At the moment, the BCM is layin around 55-57 grams, and the SS is around 48-50 grams. The SS is 3 weeks younger, and started laying at a much older age than the BCM, so she has some catching up to do.

These are our latest eggs, the newest is from the BCM and weighed 62 grams.

Oh so they do lay bigger eggs I see that the brown egg is a bit bigger than the other eggs Thats the marans egg right ?? And one more question is this is as dark as they get or they get darker with time !?? I thought they are supposed to be darker !? Great eggs by the way very colorful

I'm having trouble capturing the color in photos, I've got really bad light in that room. They are a lot darker than they appear on the pic. The green eggs are actually olive colored, but they too look very pale in that pic.

The green eggs are even greener ?!!!????

That's amazing !!

Maybe if you turn flash off you capture the colors better ??
And if you don't have the flash on in the first place then try taking the pic in another room not next to a window mayb

We've been having bad light for many weeks now, it's just cloudy all the time. And the lights we've got at home don't want to work together with my phone camera to show the colors correctly. Here are some older pics of the eggs.

These Marans eggs aren't our own, but I've got some of these under a broody at the moment. They're a bit darker than our own. They too look a bit light in the picture.
