When do Buff Orpingtons start laying?

I have 31 Buff orps that will be 25 weeks this coming Monday. I got my first egg at 19 weeks and the number of eggs I get has been going up every since. Yesterday I got 22 eggs, so I don't think everyone is laying yet
but getting real close. I could tell that some seemed to mature faster than others, they got combs and waddles while some had almost nothing.

my two biggest buff laid at 18 weeks. the other three took about 21 weeks.

5 BO pullets. One has laid 2 eggs now at 18 and a half weeks. She is the only one squatting and I scratch her back when she does. There are 3 others with red face and large wattles, no squatting yet. Then there is Queen Latifa. A third again as large as the others, pink face, no comb or wattles. ATTITUDE! Will not come when she is called. Wants to sleep in the tomato plant instead of the coop. I have to pick her up and put her in there. GRRRRR. I will be lucky if she is laying by Christmas. But I am sure thrilled by Queen Elizabeths eggs!

I have 15 Buff Orpington chickens. I got my first egg at 16 weeks. Some of the hens have matured faster than others with some cackling and some not. I also have 2 roosters, one has been crowing since he was 13 weeks old and has been mating with the hens since week 15. The other rooster hasn't made a peep and doesn't even look to be maturing. I guess it all depends on the individual chicken as to when they begin maturing.

My first egg was from a Buff Orp that was one day shy of 18 weeks. The other five took 19-22 weeks.

I have 2 BO's that are 20 weeks on friday and 6 BO's that are 16 weeks none of them are laying yet but there faces are bright red and combs are about 1/8 "....come on girls you can do it!!

Our Orpingtons are only 10 weeks old, but hubby is already excited and started putting golf balls in their nesting boxes!

When do we start giving them oyster shells?

My buffs are 23 weeks old and just starting to lay. I purchased 20 and I'm getting 10 eggs aday for now.

Update: My Buff's are now 22 weeks old and getting from 9 to 11 eggs per day. Some are the size of grade A large but most are still pullet eggs. I have even got 3 double yolked eggs.

I raise only Buff Orpingtons.

IME I have had them lay from 20-23 weeks. My current flock, two girls started at 20 weeks exactly, and 3 are not laying yet at 22 weeks.

I've never had them start later than 23 weeks though.

Right from the start they are always beautiful strong brown eggs, and always consistant once they start. (Not starting/stopping as some other breeds.)

Look for bright red combs and wattles. This is a sure sign POL is imminate.

It is so hard waiting for that first egg! And it never ceases to be sooooooooooo exciting when it happens!

Once they start getting red faces and wattles, how big do the wattles get? Do they develop them quickly, or do they take a while to fully develop?
